It all started from just two Piper owners meeting
and talking about a lot of unidentified sightings over the years
The Piper Club was established in 1978 by Clive and Diane Davies
to find out just how many Piper`s still existed from the 80
ish
road cars manufactured
People would tell us that they had seen 'a yellow one with green windows'
up near somewhere ~ so off we would go and try to find it
A number of cars were off the road because of front screen damage
as screens were unavailable because the original jigs had been lost after production finished
A new jig was made for the front screen and the old moulds
for the side and rear screens were found and purchased by the club
and this brought out a few more cars from under the covers
or in from the wet ~ most in from the wet
We attended events and a few articles in the magazines soon put the clubs name around
and a few more unknown cars came to the surface
Information has been gained over the years from past owners and racers
and the designers and manufacturers have been tortured until they could tell us no more
Most of the cars known to us have now been fully restored
or are currently under going a lengthy restoration project
and some are even stored away still in the original condition
We still have a few cars missing from the list
so if you can help us with any leads we will follow anything up !
Following a few quiet years we re-engineered the club in the year 2000
under the title of ~ Phase 2ooo
and set about finding a few lost owners who had changed their address
and join them up with the handful of friends that had kept in contact
since then we have added a number of new members as cars slowly change ownership
With so few cars originally produced the clubs membership will never be high
As a small club we can only offer car owners value and the benefit of the clubs support
as we all share the common interest that keeps this club and our cars alive
The majority of our members are here in the UK
but we do have some Piper`s dotted around the world
and we are always pleased to have the owners join the band
Piper owners from the past are always welcome to add their story to our history
and maybe find out how and where their car is now
The preservation of our cars is our clubs main concern
and we can supply some of the unique parts used during production
and other re-manufactured parts are being introduced to restore or adorn
We have full support from the ex directors of Piper Cars and Emmbrook Engineering
and the knowledge gained from them and Tony Hilder has explained why the cars are how they are
and we have had contact with most of the ex employees of Piper Cars
and Emmbrook Engineering and help from George, Bob and Ian from Piper Cams
The club will assist owners on the outside of the club with anything to keep a Piper alive
but they will miss the benefits gained from playing along with this dedicated band of enthusiasts
